We will be using various materials- painting, drawing, and three-dimensional materials throughout the program to emphasize on free self-expression through art- art as communication, expression and connection. In this workshop, the process of art-making is as important as the finished product. Participants will also spend time writing about their own process of art-making as reflection, then have time to share their art works, thoughts and feelings with the group.
Workshop with Laura: Our Place
We will think about enviroments and places we live in, looking for beauty, among other things, in our surroundings. Considering specific themes connected to our living enviroments and imagining how they could be different, we will make drawings. Later we will reproduce chosen elements from the drawings by painting and building.
Workshop with Michiko: Sound, Rhythm, Colors and Shapes We will explore music from various genres and eras and create spontaneous and improvisational visual images relating to them. Some movements will be used as well to experience the relationships between visual, auditory and kinesthetic art.
